One of the greatest blessings of Walnut Grove Christian School is the incredible teachers who invest in our students every single day. Teachers who not only educate minds, but nurture hearts, encourage growth, and reflect the love of Christ in the classroom.
This year, we are thrilled to celebrate one of those very special educators.
Congratulations to Mrs. Laura Self, our WGCS Teacher of the Year!
As a first grade teacher, Mrs. Self plays a foundational role in the lives of her students. Every day, she creates a classroom environment filled with patience, encouragement, creativity, and intentionality. Whether she’s helping students grow academically, building confidence in young learners, or creating moments of joy and laughter throughout the day, her impact reaches far beyond the walls of her classroom.
Assistant Principal Ann Carol Love shared:
“Mrs. Self has been such a blessing to WGCS. She is a seasoned professional who is constantly listening, observing, and adjusting to meet the individual needs of each of her students. She supports their families and our entire staff as well. Her servant’s heart is evident in all that she does.”
Mrs. Love also noted how Mrs. Self’s passion shines through in every area she touches, including her leadership and involvement with this year’s Veterans Day Celebration.
What makes Mrs. Self so special is not simply her skill as a teacher, though she is exceptional at what she does. It’s the way she sees and values people. Students respect her. Families trust her. Fellow teachers appreciate her willingness to serve and jump in wherever needed.
Head of School Kyle Boyd shared:
“Laura Self is an absolutely amazing teacher! She loves the Lord, her students, and the first grade! Everyone at Walnut Grove has been impacted by her in some way and we are all blessed to have her here!”
At WGCS, we believe great teachers help shape the culture and future of a school. Mrs. Self is a beautiful example of that truth.
Please join us in congratulating and celebrating Mrs. Self on this well-deserved recognition as Walnut Grove Christian School’s Teacher of the Year!
