A few days ago—on October 9, 2025—our campus was filled with joy, laughter, and an overwhelming sense of gratitude as the entire WGCS community (students, families, faculty, alumni, and special guests) came together to celebrate a milestone: 25 years of Walnut Grove Christian School.
Rather than gathering once, the celebration was designed to be experienced in community and reflection. Students were divided into three groups and rotated throughout the day, each group taking part in a special chapel service, a campus cookout, and a 25th Anniversary Art Project. This allowed every student to participate meaningfully, while giving parents and guests multiple touchpoints to join in throughout the day.

A Day Built Around Our Four Pillars
During each chapel service, families filled the room as Mr. Boyd shared a powerful reflection on the story God has been writing through Walnut Grove. He revisited our Four Pillars—Faith, Academics, Relationships, and Schedule—first formalized in 2012, and reminded us how they have shaped the heartbeat of our school ever since.
Graduates from the classes of 2022, 2019, and 2011, and even one of the original eight students who began in 2000, shared moving testimonies about how Walnut Grove shaped their faith, friendships, and future. Their reflections gave living proof of the long-lasting impact of our Four Pillars and the community that continues to grow from them.

Mr. Boyd reminded us that:
Faith has always been our foundation including Christ-centered teaching, Christ-centered leadership, Christ-centered community.
Academics are pursued with purpose, preparing students not just for college, but for calling…the same preparation that helped this year’s seniors secure impressive college acceptances, including a rare six-for-six direct admission into Clemson University.
Relationships are why our anniversary theme is Celebrating Connections because people make the difference.
Schedule reflects our belief that margin matters; time with family, rest, and personal passion are as formative as classroom hours.

Honoring Our Story
In chapel, we also looked back at the journey, from eight students in a single room to the thriving, multi-generational community we celebrate today. Founders, faculty, and faithful leaders like Shannon Boyd, Sally Boyer, Pam Miller, Mary Rudnick, Mary Jo Shannon, Laura Summer and many others were honored for saying yes when obedience required courage.
It was a reminder that Walnut Grove didn’t grow by accident; rather, it grew through prayer, faith, and faithful partnership.
Celebration Through Community
Outside, students enjoyed a school-wide cookout, sharing food, fellowship, and laughter across grade levels. Meanwhile, another rotation participated in the 25th Anniversary Art Project, a hands-on creative expression of gratitude and legacy. Across the three rotations, every student had the opportunity to worship, create, and celebrate together.

25 years, and we’re just getting started.
As we look back, we see God’s fingerprints at every turn. As we look ahead, we do so with expectation, believing that the same God who carried eight students in a single classroom will lead us faithfully into the next chapter.
That next chapter begins as we lay the groundwork for the upcoming building campaign for our new gymnasium. This space will be a gathering place and a foundation for continued growth. We are in the preparatory phase, prayerfully putting in place the building blocks for what God will do next through Walnut Grove.
Thank you for being part of this story. Whether your family joined us this year or has been here for decades, you are part of the legacy of Walnut Grove Christian School.
