WGCS Students Get a Head Start with Dual Enrollment at Winthrop | Walnut Grove Christian School

One fantastic opportunity available to Walnut Grove students and families is the chance to take classes for credit at Winthrop University. Qualified juniors and seniors can dual enroll and earn 13 or more hours of college credit, giving them a head start on their higher education journey.

Currently, 15 of our students are taking advantage of this unique program.

Thanks to our commitment to flexible scheduling (one of our 4 Pillars), we seamlessly integrate dual credit courses into our students’ timetables. Most students travel to Winthrop’s campus for their college classes, enjoying the experience of a university setting. When they’re not on the Winthrop campus, they have dedicated time and space at Walnut Grove to focus on their studies, ensuring they can balance both high school and college coursework effectively.

This dual enrollment program not only accelerates academic progress but also reduces the cost of college education for families. By earning college credits while still in high school, students save time and money, making a private Christian education even more valuable. Additionally, students gain confidence and experience by navigating college-level coursework, better preparing them for the academic challenges of university life.

At Walnut Grove, we believe in nurturing well-rounded students who are ready to lead and serve. This program exemplifies our commitment to providing exceptional educational opportunities that align with our values, ensuring our students are equipped for both academic success and personal growth.
