Sharing Jesus’ Love: WGCS & Operation Christmas Child | Walnut Grove Christian School

This past week, Life at the Grove was filled with joy and purpose as we came together for one of our most cherished traditions: Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child.

On Thursday morning, our entire school gathered in the front circle to participate in the Blessing of the Boxes ceremony. Bundled up against the chill, students, faculty, and families sang worship songs led by our talented student worship team, lifting their voices in praise. Together, we prayed over the shoeboxes filled with toys, school supplies, and hygiene items—small yet powerful gifts that will carry the love of Jesus to children around the world.

We were honored to welcome a guest speaker from Operation Christmas Child, who shared incredible stories of how these simple boxes change lives. Many students were moved to hear how a shoebox can open doors for the gospel, providing children in need with the opportunity to learn about Jesus’ love for them.

As the morning wrapped up, our senior class loaded the shoeboxes onto school buses and personally delivered them to the Samaritan’s Purse facility, where they joined thousands of other boxes destined for countries across the globe.

This event serves as a reminder of why we do what we do at Walnut Grove Christian School: to prepare our students to live out their faith and make a difference, whether it’s in their local community or halfway around the world.

Thank you to every family who packed a box, prayed over this initiative, or contributed in any way. Together, we are helping fulfill the mission of spreading hope, love, and the gospel message to children who need it most.

We hope these photos capture the spirit of the morning and the joy of giving:

As we move deeper into this season of gratitude, let’s continue to pray for the children who will receive these gifts and the life-changing impact they will experience.

If your family has been inspired by this event and would like to pack additional shoeboxes, it’s not too late! Visit the Operation Christmas Child website for more details.
