At Walnut Grove Christian School, we believe in nurturing students who strive for excellence—not just in the classroom, but in their character, leadership, and service to others. Today, we’re thrilled to celebrate two of our own, Tyler Hanson and Karis Hunt, for earning U.S. Congressional Award Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals! 🎉
The Congressional Award is the United States Congress’ award for young Americans, recognizing students who challenge themselves through volunteerism, personal growth, fitness, and exploration. It is a non-partisan, prestigious achievement that requires dedication, perseverance, and a heart for service. Participants set and accomplish ambitious goals in four key areas:
✅ Voluntary Public Service – Giving back to their communities
✅ Personal Development – Expanding skills and interests
✅ Physical Fitness – Strengthening mind and body
✅ Expedition/Exploration – Engaging in experiences that build confidence and resilience

Tyler and Karis have demonstrated exceptional commitment to these principles, earning recognition from Congress for their hard work and determination.
This isn’t the first time WGCS students have excelled in this program. Last year, four of the eight Congressional Award recipients from South Carolina were from Walnut Grove! This speaks volumes about the kind of students, families, and educators that make our school so special.
We are incredibly proud of Tyler and Karis for representing WGCS at such a high level and for their dedication to making a difference in their communities and beyond.
Please join us in celebrating their achievement! 🎖👏
